About Suited for Success 

​

Suited for Success relies on passionate, committed volunteers. We are looking to expand our team of interview coaching volunteers to support and prepare clients referred to Suited for Success to feel confident and ready to succeed in a job interview. 

 

Our charity supports people who lack the skills or confidence to apply for a job or sell themselves in a job interview. We provide FREE one-to-one interview coaching (including mock interviews and video interviewing practice), employment preparation skills (including CV reviews and general coaching on skills and experience) and the FREE provision of smart interview clothing to make sure that first impression counts.

 

Our holistic approach tailors to the needs of the individual to help people rebuild their confidence and power their journey back into work. 

 

Our clients

Suited for Success works with a variety of frontline support agencies who support unemployed men and women of all ages and backgrounds who are experiencing significant personal barriers and complex issues in gaining employment.

 

Client groups we work with include the homeless, ex-forces, return to work mums, 16-29 yrs old young people not in education or training, people with criminal convictions, the long-term unemployed and more. Suited for Success is a practical vehicle to move people from long-term unemployment so they can become independent and break free from the cycle of poverty.

 

Suited for Success also supports people to settle into a new job. Our 'New Job Start' appointments are an informal one-to-one session with a business professional to help with any questions, anxieties, or concerns about starting a new job. A New Job Start appointment also includes a capsule work wardrobe (if required) so people can turn up to work every day looking their best. 

 

The only criteria to access the support from Suited for Success is being unemployed, actively looking for work, and wanting to give a great first impression in their next job interview and gain employment that could change their life.

 

About our volunteers

Our interview coaching volunteer team come from a wide range of professional backgrounds, expertise, and experience including HR consultancy, business managers, recruitment consultants, business owners, retired managers, business directors, and more who volunteer their time sharing invaluable tips, advice, and support in an informal, friendly environment to support people into employment.

From just a cup of tea and a chat through a client's CV looking at next steps in their employment journey or working through anxieties about interviews to a mock interview tailored to the job they are going for, our great team of volunteers are dedicated to supporting people to gain successful employment. 

 

How we support the unemployed 

​

Our package of support helps unemployed men and women of all ages and backgrounds who are lacking confidence due to redundancy, finding it hard to find employment, or have all the skills and experience they need, but are struggling to sell yourself in a job application or job interview. 

 

We offer:

• One-to-one appointment to explore next steps in their employment journey. 
   

• Interview Coaching - interview skills and practicing competency based interview questions.
   

• General Coaching (including CV reviews) - Supporting clients struggling to get an interview, been long-term unemployed, changing job sectors and more. A general coaching session gives clients the confident to restart their journey into employment.   
   

• Mock Interviews - tailored to the clients up and coming job interview. 
   

• Video Interview practice – clients can record and submit a video interview. 
   

• Free interview clothing provision working one-to-one with our styling team 
   

• Video interview booth bookings (to use for video job interviews with employers)
   

• Bespoke workshops, coaching days, webinars and online masterclasses – Available to book via the Suited website
   

• New Job Start appointment (including work clothing provision) – Supporting the client when starting a new job to eliminate any anxieties.

 

Volunteer with us

​

Do you have skills and experience in recruitment, doing job interviews, or maybe you're in a managerial role where you have to interview people for jobs? You may be retired, work part-time or you are currently in a role and you get a few employee volunteer days for the year.  

​

We are looking for people with a professional background  to volunteer with us just just a few hours a month, who have lots of energy, have great communication skills and are passionate about helping and encouraging unemployed men and women of all ages and backgrounds with employment preparation at Suited for Success.

​

Appointments are both in-person and virtual via zoom.

 

AN INDUCTION, TRAINING AND SUPPORT IS ALSO GIVEN TO ALL NEW VOLUNTEERS INCLUDING SHADOW SHIFTS WITH OUR LONGSTANDING REGULAR VOLUNTEERS.

​

 

We are asking for volunteers to commit to a just one day a month -  (minimum 3 hours) given as one block of time within the following days and hours:

​

• Tuesdays: 10am - 3pm

• Thursdays: 10am - 3pm

• Friday: 10am - 3pm

 

Interview coaching volunteers may also be needed for our bespoke pop-up events and workshops days on a Wednesday.

Other volunteer roles and duties currently available

 

Styling and dressing clients  -Are you a personal stylist, image consultant or just love styling, fashion and clothes? Suited for Success is busier than ever. We need to grow our amazing team of volunteers to support unemployed men and women prepare for job interviews and the world of work.

We are currently in need of volunteers to join our fabulous styling team to support our male and female clients to dress to impress.

Our styling team supports clients with one-to-one personal styling appointments to help build confidence, style and choose a great job interview outfit or pick a capsule wardrobe of clothing items ready to make that crucial first impression count when starting a new job.

All we ask for is a minimum commitment of just a few hours once a month and a passion to support unemployed men and women gain confidence to move into employment. You can also start with a taster volunteer styling day we us with no commitment.

Meet and Greet (also general shop floor duties) - making our clients feel welcome when they arrive for their appointment at Suited for Success. Meet and greet clients at the front door, offer them a tea or coffee and introduce them to the member of the team who will be doing the appointment.

 

Duties also include keeping areas clean, organised and tidy,  supporting the styling team by putting clothes away, keeping the changing room area tidy, restocking and hanging clothing making sure everything is immaculately presented and ready to use.
