Dressing 'Project You' for Success with the Big Lottery Fund
June 21, 2017
On Tuesday 20th June we had another great workshop day with the Sport 4 Life programme 'Project You'. We were also joined by a team of staff from Big Lottery Fund West Midlands who volunteered with Suited for Success for the day. Project You is a female only personal development and employability programme run by Sport 4 Life delivering workshops alongside external partners that include - first aid, OCR qualification, employability, life skills, health and well-being and more.
Dressing for Success
The day started with a session led by Suited for Success manager Patricia White sharing tips with the group of 11 young ladies aged between 18 - 25 yrs, on how to dress for an interview. Fields of work members of the group were aspiring to get into included hotel management, school teacher, retail and customer services. Members of the lottery team also joined the session sharing their own tips and advice on how to be confident and do well in a job interview.
The Big Lottery Fund team then spent the rest of the morning and afternoon dressing and preparing the group of young ladies ready for up and coming mock interviews with Deutsche Bank. Tips were also given about how to wear their make-up, hair and accessories for job interviews
There were alot of smiles and screams of delight as the transformed young ladies emerged from their changing rooms.
Funding from the Big Lottery Fund
Suited for Success received an Awards for All grant from the Big Lottery last August that helped to set up the referral centre. The lottery team were delighted to spend the day with Suited for Success to see how the money has been spent and to see the charity in action. The Big Lottery has also funded Sport 4 Life for some of their work with young people. The team were able to see two charities working together to make a difference to lives of young people in Birmingham.
