We can't thank big and tall men's wear retailer John Banks enough for their incredible donation of plus sized smart men's wear to Suited for Success.
On Thursday 29th March the Suited for Success team picked up 'two car loads full' of donations kindly given to us by the Erdington based men's wear retailer. Our car was chock full of quality smart brand new trousers, suits and shirts for big and tall gentleman ranging from 50 - 64 plus sizes.
Suited for Success provides unemployed men and women with FREE job interview clothes through generous regular donations from professional men and women. However we get very few plus sizes to support our larger male and female clients.
Going the extra mile
John Banks have been a great support for several of our male clients where we didn't have the appropriate sizes at our centre, including a recent client who was made redundant from Royal Bank of Scotland after a 25 year career. Suited for Success went the extra mile to purchase suitable interview clothing for the client from the Erdington store so he could give a great first impression for several job interviews he had lined up.
Our Suited for Success client said: "My redundancy was out of the blue, so unexpected. Myself and my wife have really struggled financially while I looked for work. Due to my larger size I used to wear the same black trousers and shirt to work everyday but they were too worn to wear to an interview, I just didn't have the finances to go to a specialist shop to purchase an interview suit. I'm really grateful for the help from Suited for Success."
John Banks is a family run business that has been operating at their Slade Road premises in Erdington for over 60 years, catering for big and tall men with a huge range of formal and casual clothing. The store staff have always had a kind interest in our work and have spent time to give us experts tips and advice to dress our plus size male clients.
We were over the moon to be contacted by the store manager offering a large donation of sale stock. Store manager Sue Phillips said: "We're really pleased the stock can go to a good cause and help unemployed men into work. We would love to also get our customers involved and do a donation drive later this year. We're so pleased we can help".
Sales assistant Ian also commented: "It feels great that we can do something like this, so happy to help".
A specialised service
With the fantastic donation we will start to develop a specialist section at our referral centre to cater for our plus size male and female clients. Thank you John Banks
