Getting into work with HSBC
Suited for Success is delighted to be working with a team of staff from the HSBC Commercial banking office in Edgbaston, Birmingham. Organised by team manager Marie Holloway after a visit to Suited for Success in the summer, staff members at the Edgbaston office will take up a variety of volunteering opportunities at Suited for Success to practically support the unemployed right on their doorstep.
Volunteer days at the Ladywood Job Club
Suited for Success partners with other local charities, community projects, a local church and organisations in Ladywood to run a mid-week job club at the Ladywood Community Centre to further support local people right on our doorstep into employment.
Ladywood has been crowned the unemployment capital of the UK with over 6000 people aged 16 -64 claiming out of work benefits. Many people in the area experience poverty caused by long-term unemployment and low skills.
The HSBC office have committed to regular volunteering days at the Ladywood Job Club to help and support local unemployed men and women to create CVs, job searching, job applications, coaching and employment advice.
ESOL for Back to Work Mums
Female HSBC staff who speak English as a second language will also be helping out on our new ESOL for Work course that runs alongside the job club.
The course is part of a bespoke employability programme at Suited for Success working in partnership with Fircroft College, local schools, children centres and job centres.
Female staff from HSBC will be volunteering to support, inspire and prepare the back to work mums on the course to become more confident and equipped to get into employment, including CV updates, applying for jobs, interview coaching and dressing for interview success.
