We’re over the moon that Suited for Success were crowned winners of the ‘Excellence in the Third Sector’ Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce Awards 2020 in a virtual awards event on Thursday 23rd July.
Compered by Heart FM drivetime presenter Ed James, eighty-two businesses went head-to-head to win one of 12 sector awards on the evening, as well as the coveted Greater Birmingham Business of the Year award. The Chambers Chief executive Paul Faulkner opened proceedings, with president Steve Allen also addressing the virtual audience before revealing the recipient of his President’s Award.
The event, sponsored by Aston Villa, Birmingham City University, HSBC and Elonex, was beamed from Chamber House in Edgbaston that was free-to-watch on the Chamber’s website. The evening’s entertainment included a performance from spoken word artist Casey Bailey and the talented Aston Performing Arts Academy.
The annual Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) awards event is one of the UK’s largest business dinners and was due to take place in March at the ICC but was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown.
Suited for Success CEO, Patricia White said: “It was very strange to watch the awards ceremony at home on my laptop instead of attending a glitzy event at the ICC.
"There was stiff competition in our category from a number of amazing Birmingham charities. My neighbours must have wondered what was going on hearing the scream of excitement when our charity was announced as the winners. The team are delighted.”
