It's time to Stand Out​

 

Suited for Success is working together with West Midlands Combined Authority Jobs and Skills Academy to deliver an employment programme called 'Stand Out' supporting unemployed young people aged  18 - 30 into employment, training and volunteering.

​

The ‘Stand Out’ Project is a National Lottery funded programme starting in Summer 2021 to December 2022, aimed at providing unique training, volunteering and employment opportunities for young people aged 18 - 30 across the West Midlands, utilising the backdrop of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

​

The Commonwealth Games will create thousands of volunteering and job opportunities. The Stand Out project will provides wrap-around support for young people prior, during and post the Commonwealth Games.

​

Suited for Success is signing up unemployed young people aged between 18-30 year olds for our Stand Out employment project ( 18- 24 for the urban music project with Maverick Sounds)

​

We are specifically looking to support young people living in the following areas:

​

• Ladywood

• North Edgbaston

• Soho & Jewellery Quarter

• Holyhead

• Handsworth

• Lozells

• Newtown

• Nechells

​

Wrap around support includes:

 

• 1-2-1 support into employment, training and volunteering opportunities

• Employment advice

• Get access to job opportunities

• Regular updates on jobs, volunteering and training opportunities

• Support with CVs and applying for jobs

• Pre-employment training;

• 1-2-1 interview skills coaching

• Free interview clothing 

• Support to apply for volunteering and training opportunities 

• Coaching and mentoring;

• New job support (including work clothing)

• Support to overcome multiple barriers to employment.

• Referral to specialist support

About Maverick Sounds

​

Maverick Sounds specialise in delivering musical training, workshops and programmes to young people, those from hard-to-reach backgrounds and prison inmate with an aim to positively engage young people to participate through music.

​

They provide a safe space for participants to grow in skills such as lyric writing, recording and mixing as well as empowering young people to make positive choices in their lives.
