A day with Selfridges Birmingham VM team
Such an awesome day with the Selfridges Birmingham Visual Merchandising team who spent a volunteer day at Suited for Success on Tuesday 12th November. The team used their professional skills and creativity, usually spent dressing one of the UKs iconic department stores to transform our referral centre.
The day started at the Selfridges store loading a van full of donated mannequins, clothing and display stands and more, before making our way to Suited for Success. After a tour around Suited for Success and a talk about our work the VM team exploded with ideas.
From dressing mannequins and vinyl signage to working on jewellery, handbags and accessory displays. The team also shared their professional tips and techniques used in the clothing retail merchandising trade making Suited for Success look even more like a department store and creating a great environment to prepare our clients for employment success.
The day came together after Suited for Success was invited to attend a charity day at the city centre store earlier this year, alongside other local charities. to promote what we do and how Selfridges staff can volunteer and get involved with our work supporting unemployed men and women into employment. Staff at the Birmingham store are given a one day a year to volunteer.
More volunteer days at Suited for Success are already being planned over the coming months hosting the personal styling team and HR department. “We had such an great day with the Selfridges Birmingham visual merchandising team who made our centre look amazing in just a space of a few hours. Our team is dedicated to creating a professional and inspiring environment for our clients. We can't thank the Selfridges Birmingham VM team enough for helping us to make that happen.
"We're so excited and looking forward to hosting more volunteer days with staff from the city’s iconic department store”. - Patricia White, Suited for Success, CEO.
